Katie (aged 10) had a lovely 11.2 pony, who was an ideal pony for her...Katie was a confident, outgoing child, prone to being a bit loud at times! Her pony was very steady and needed a lot of encouragement to keep going.
Sadly Katie kept growing and her pony's legs didn't! So a bigger, slightly more challenging pony was bought for her, with all care and advice. This pony was ideal in all respects and it had been a longwinded and difficult search.
The first day that Katie rode her new pony, under instruction, despite all the advice offered, everything went quite horribly wrong! Katie excitedly bounced her heels on his sides and he shot straight into trot, which rattled Katie - her first pony would have barely been moving by now! The trot got faster and broke into canter and Katie's screams didn't help matters much! Luckily the pony was an honest pony, well chosen, and headed for the instructor and stopped!
Now, the problem was an expensive, hard to find second pony, that Katie wouldn't ride anymore. No matter how much they explained that the pony just did as he was asked, Katie was sure he was wild and dangerous!
One session of EFT lead to this......
Katie, now calm and confident, no longer sure that her new pony was out to get her, and a child much more likely to listen, in future, to the advice of her instructor!
This took one session of EFT, at most, 20 minutes, mainly working on Katie's fears but with a short session where Katie pretended to be her new pony and we investigated how he might be feeling.
